How to become a member…
The following documents will assist and are available as free downloads as well
as from the UKTFA office:
Membership is open to all organisations involved with or interested in Timber
Frame Construction and a subscription schedule is available from the UKTFA office.
It is therefore relevant to organisations in the complete timber frame industry
supply chain, from forestry through milling, treatment and engineered components
to organisations supplying all types of goods and services to the timber frame
industry. It is also of interest to those involved in the design, engineering
and marketing of timber frame structures, those companies supplying timber frame
erection services and to private and public sector house builders, housing associations
and construction companies using this form of construction.
Membership will also be of value to organisations providing a specific professional
service to the timber frame industry, companies outside of the UK wishing to link
with the UK industry and to Trade Associations provided that they are a recognised
body with links to the timber frame industry or its supply chain.

Members
Any relevant organisations can apply for Membership. A Membership application
form together with a copy of the rules of the Association and a schedule of fees
is available on request.
Timber Frame Manufacturers
Timber frame manufacturers wishing to be considered for Membership should normally
have been trading for at least one year and have published an independently certified
set of trading accounts or be able to establish a track record in a similar manner.
Timber Frame Manufacturer Members shall also undertake to implement and maintain
a quality management system. The UKTFA Quality Scheme operates at 2 levels; Q-Mark
and Q-Mark Plus. The Q-Mark level is designed intentionally to be straightforward
to implement, with the minimum essential paperwork to provide appropriate levels
of quality that satisfies the need and increases the confidence of our Members’
customers and the ultimate client. The Q-Mark Plus level represents the gold
standard for the industry and requires the implementation of ISO9000: 2000 in
addition to the relevant product conformance requirements. Both schemes are available
in separate modules for designers, manufacturers and erectors of timber frame.
Manufacturers who do not have a quality scheme in place may be considered as
probationary Members for a period of 12 months from their date of joining to allow
time to implement the requirements of the scheme.
