    Training and Skills Issues

Like many other sectors of business in the UK, the construction industry must address a skills crisis – in particular, a shortage of qualified and experienced trades to work on site.

Timber frame construction provides one of the fastest solutions to UK housebuilders and developers. It’s not about de-skilling – it’s about changing to using different sets of skills.

Many housebuilders find that when they take the decision to try timber frame, they can take blockwork out of the equation and tap into a much more readily available workforce of trained erectors and trades that have plenty of experience with timber frame.

In addition, timber frame manufacturers often employ project management staff with extensive construction experience – this helps them work more closely with the housebuilders to achieve high quality and overcome any design, logistics, detail and site issues.
